ABBY and PEANUT
March 21 2022
Two years ago today we made one of the biggest decisions to date - We had been contacted by a person that had been taking care of a group of horses that needed more then the owners could give. There had been years of questionable care for these 5 horses - 2 Fjords and 3 minis, all with varying degrees of physical issues. We convinced the owners to surrender them - One of the Fjords, Abbie, had suffered with a broken hip for years and foundered multiple times, she was in pain and there was no cure for her. One of the minis, Peanut, was born with defects and had an infected ulcerated eye that would need to be removed and the outcome was questionable. We made the decision, along with our veterinarian, to give these 2 girls a peaceful end. As soon as they were unloaded at our place, the vet examined and they were given the last act of kindness we could offer - as quickly as possible to they felt the least amount of fear. It would have been more peaceful for them to have been euthanized at their previous owners property so they never had to experience the fear of travel but some people can not make that decision. Fortunately we were able to accomplish this with alot of help from Claire, Amanda, Cat and multiple others along the way. The other Fjord was given a few more months to try to overcome her laminitis but eventually the pain was too much and she too was euthanized. The two other minis, Tobey and Rosie, found their forever homes. Rosie (now known as Luna) went to another barn for a short time but now is reunited with Tobey and they are living the life of luxury with all the love and friendship they could want. Thank you Haley and Makallie and happy 2 year anniversary
